San Juan Capistrano

About San Juan Capistrano

San Juan Capistrano is a fantastic, historical place to live in southern Orange County. In fact, it offers the widest variety in the area — many think of OC for its glistening, modern buildings, but “SJC” even features adobe-style homes dating to the 18th and 19th centuries. Many adobe-style buildings can still be seen in the central district. The Los Rios neighborhood is the oldest residential neighborhood in California. Additionally, you’ll find spectacular hilltop homes in several gated communities in the hills surrounding the picturesque community.

While the battles for American independence were waged half a continent away on the east coast, Catholic missionaries were settling the area. The legendary church for which the city is named, the Mission San Juan Capistrano, was founded in 1776.

Today, the city’s small-town size and feel (35,000 residents) and excellent location make it an exceptional commuter city. Downtown Santa Ana is just 23 miles away, with Irvine, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Mission Viejo even closer. An excellent place to live with impressive comfort and amenities at any price range, San Juan Capistrano is one of my top picks in the southern Orange County area!
